Man arrested in connection with Whitby sex assault

A man has been arrested in connection with a sex assault on a teenage girl in Whitby.

Georghe Mighali was arrested on Saturday afternoon after being located in Scotland.

Following questioning in custody at Scarborough, he was released on conditional police bail, pending further enquiries.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said: “We thank the media and members of the public who kindly assisted the appeal.”

Anyone who can help the investigation into the incident, which happened in the Stakasby Road and Station Avenue area, on Saturday 9 March should call police on 101 and ask for Whitby CID.
