Lythe miller fire

A FARMER was forced to extinguish a fire after his mobile milling machine burst into flames on Monday.

The incident occurred at around 9.45am at a farm on Low Lane in Lythe and the farmer was able to put out the fire using a dry powder extinguisher.

Fire crews from Lythe and Whitby responded to the emergency call, and the Lythe team checked the area using thermal imaging equipment to make sure no hot spots remained.

An electrical fault in the milling machine was believed to be the cause.
