But she said they were delighted with the weekend and said everyone had had a fantastic time with "tens of thousands" of visitors enjoying the action.
"Thank goodness the weather stayed reasonable on Sunday," she told the Whitby Gazette.
"It was a much better day and there were a lot more people about as Saturday was a bit showery – the weather always has an impact.
"It always has a lovely atmosphere about it. The helicopter was fantastic, they all did a great display and they got a big round of applause.
"The tombola did excellently and we took an amazing amount of money on the souvenir stall."
But she said the weekend had been tinged with sadness following the recent death of Whitby lifeboat's operations manager Roy Weatherill.
Youngsters Emma and Sophie Webster, the daughters of lifeboatman Phil Webster helped raise an enormous 260 from their pick a peg stall which they manned all weekend.
"Those children turn up every lifeboat weekend and help," added Mrs Thomson.
"They are our supporters of the future."
Mrs Thomson and Whitby Lifeboat coxswain, Mike Russell, said they would like to say a big thank your to everyone who helped over the weekend and helped make it such a success.
