Lealholm School pupils fly the flag for UNICEF day
LEALHOLM School children donned the colours of the flag belonging to one of the poorest countries on earth as part of a special fund-raising effort.
Pupils at the tiny Esk Valley primary school, which has 46 children, have supported UNICEF Day for Change for many years and this year decided to support their appeal to raise funds to support the charity's work to improve education and health in Mozambique in South Eastern Africa.
The school recently held a sponsored No Screens Day which involved staff, pupils and many parents not using computer screens for a whole day which netted 509.15 for UNICEF.
And the children and staff came to school dressed in the colours of the Mozambique flag – red, green, black and yellow – and held a special assembly for the children to show some of the things they had done on No Screens Day.
This event included knitting, baking, painting and family games.
