Help fund-raise for 100 year old cancer charity

MACMILLAN Cancer Support are looking for people from Whitby and district to help ride and hike their way to the charity’s centenary.

A ride or ramble event has been arranged in Rievaulx, near Helmsley, on 15 May, to raise money for the 100-year-old charity.

There are trails for horse riders and separate routes for walkers, but ramblers are warned that the routes will not be suitable for pushchairs or wheelchairs.

All routes are clearly marked and will be several miles long.

Fund-raising manager, Sally Millington said: “The money raised on the day will make a big difference to people with a cancer diagnosis. This year is Macmillan’s 100th birthday. It’s thanks to people organising and taking part in events that we have been able to help so many people over the last 100 years.

“We want to be able to continue to help people over the next hundred years and we need donations to help us achieve this. We rely on supporters for 97% of our income. Without which we couldn’t provide any of our services for people living with cancer.

“The Rievaulx ride or ramble is not only a wonderful event, but also a fantastic way to make a difference.”

An entry fee of £15 for adult riders, £5 for those under 16, £10 for ramblers and £3 for under 16’s is payable on arrival.
