Hats off to you guys!

Staff at a Whitby store used their heads wisely to mark the launch of a huge international community scheme.

Workers from the Co-operative, in New Quay Road, donned unusual headgear to herald the International Year of Co-operatives and pieced together a giant global jigsaw to celebrate the merits of co-operation around the world.

Store manager Dennis Gilroy said: “We are committed to the communities in which we trade, and we support local charities and good causes via our Community Fund.

“Thanks to the International Year of Co-operatives, everyone from the Whitby store to the Ibaraki fishing co-operative in Japan can celebrate the responsible way we do business.”
