Fylingthorpe author wins place at awards night
FYLINGTHORPE writer Julie Noble met publishers and writers' agents when she was invited to a Brit Writers Awards gala night in London.
Julie's children's novel Talli's Secret gained her a place at the award ceremony held on Thursday as one of the top seven unpublished novelists out of many thousands who entered the competition.
Although not winning an award, a spokesman for the Brit Writers' Awards said: "Julie did extremely well."
Julie's novel is based on her own family's experiences and features a girl who suffers from dyspraxia and dyslexia.
One of Julie's five children suffers from the same conditions.
Julie (40) wrote the book in 2004 and published it herself. She has also won a short story competition in the monthly magazine She. Entitled Sands of Time, it will be published in the August edition of the magazine.
Julie, who has been writing stories since she was a child, studied literature and psychology at Lancaster University and later worked on the TV series Heartbeat and The Royal.
She fits in her writing after the youngest of her five children, who range in age from two to 20, have gone to bed.
