The mountain rescue team which serves the Whitby area and North York Moors has been supported with a donation from the region’s ballistic missile-warning base.

RAF Fylingdales Station Commander Dave Keighley presented a cheque for £500 to Roger Hartley, chairman of Scarborough and Ryedale Mountain Rescue Team.

The money was raised through car boot sales, a sponsored car wash, and a station staffmember completed a sponsored run from Leeds to Fylingdales.

Mr Hartley said: “The whole team wish to thank the Station Commander, all ranks, their families and the civilian staff for this very kind donation.”
