Free health checks for Whitby area dogs
TAILS were wagging on the West Cliff on Thursday as dogs from across the Whitby area had a free MoT health check.
Scarborough Borough Council's Dog Warden service supported the free PDSA (People's Dispensary for Sick Animals) event at Whitby Leisure Centre between 10am and 5pm.
People were invited to go and get free advice from the wardens on responsible dog ownership.
Experienced PDSA veterinary nurses offered a free PetCheck for dogs from their PetCheck vehicle.
The health checks covered weight, eyes, teeth, ears, coat condition and general fitness.
The nurses also gave advice on caring for other pets.
Graham Hibberd, Scarborough Borough Council's senior dog warden said: "In my role working for the Dog Warden service I fully appreciate how much responsibility owning a pet involves and it was great to meet owners at the event that were looking for extra advice on responsible dog ownership.
"We are fully supportive of this initiative by the PDSA and think it was a fantastic opportunity for pet owners to get professional advice on pet care and also bring along their dogs for a free health check."
