Fiancée charged with murder

THE fiancée of a man who was killed on Friday has been charged with his murder.

Gareth Matthews (32), of Spring Hill Court in Whitby, died after suffering serious chest injuries at around 11.25pm on Friday evening.

Detectives investigating the death today charged Rebecca Dormer (22) with Mr Matthews’ murder at the home they shared.

She was arrested immediately following the incident, with police this morning asking for more time question her.

Miss Dormer appeared at Scarborough Magistrates’ Court to answer the murder charge this afternoon.

She has been remanded in custody and will reappear at Leeds Crown Court on Wednesday 27 February 2013.

A 24-year-old man who was also arrested in connection with the incident has been released without further police action.
