Ex-Castleton woman killed in Jordan coach crash

A FORMER Castleton woman has died after a coach crash in Jordan on 29 July, a Foreign Office spokesman has confirmed.

Carolyne Stanforth (58), now lives in London, but her mother lives in the Esk Valley village.

Mrs Stanforth, was one of two British women killed in the crash, as well as three Iraqi women.

She died a day after the crash which happened while she was taking part in a UN-sponsored training course, according to local police.

A spokesman for the Foreign Office told the Gazette the family is being given consular assistance.

Her funeral takes place next Friday at St Hilda's Church in Danby.
