Drink driver disqualified

A BLENHEIM Avenue man was disqualified from driving for 14 months after being caught drink driving on 10 January.

At a Scarborough Magistrates Court hearing on 31 January Simon Shipton (35) pleaded guilty to driving while under the influence of alcohol.

He had been caught driving a Volkswagen Touran on Abbeville Avenue in Whitby while drunk. In his system he had 54 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes per 100 millilitres.

Mr Shipton was fined a total of £255 and disqualified from driving for 14 months, although this will be reduced to three months subject to certain conditions .
