THE Mayor of Whitby is hosting a spring time dinner and dance to raise money for teenager Dale Milne and other local causes.

John Freeman is organising the black tie event as part of his mayoral year at the helm of Whitby Town Council.

It will take place at Larpool Hall on Saturday 10 March and tickets includes a three course meal and entertainment from live band Fashion Fever as well as a Strictly Come Dancing style competition where the contestants have received professional tuition at LP Dance Studios.

Money made on the night will be used to help local teenager Dale who was left paralysed after a freak accident on Whitby beach last summer and other local groups.

Coun Freeman said: “A previous mayor had done an evening at Sneaton but I felt I wanted to do something that involved the town as a whole and raised money for charities.

“Larpool Hall are being really generous with us and it should be a good evening that will bring the town and the town council together.”

Tickets are £29 per person and it is hoped friends or businesses will want to take a table of up to 10 but singles and couples can be seated with other groups.

Applications for seats have to be made to the civic officer at Whitby Town Council by 17 February.
