Comedian prepares for trip to Whitby's Coliseum
A HUGELY talented and diverse young comedian is the latest star appearing at Whitby Coliseum later this month.
Alex Horne will be taking to the stage a week tomorrow in his show, Wordwatching, which is being presented by Hilarity Bites and Musicport as part of its Comedy at The Coliseum series.
Alex's first-ever gig came after winning a Christmas Cracker joke-writing competition while working at a dairy in West Sussex.
Since that inauspicious beginning, he has managed to establish a remarkable reputation among critics, comics and audiences as a gifted gag-smith, prolific writer and one of the most creative solo performers at work today.
In Wordwatching Perrier Award nominee and Chortle Award winner Alex traces the highs and lows of his absurd campaign to get his invented word accepted into a dictionary.
After making considerable progress, his verbal inventions appeared on several grown-up TV shows, in national newspapers and in Eurofruit, the leading trade magazine for fresh produce buyers in Europe.
Wordwatching is a hi-tech joke-filled extravaganza tracking the highs and lows of his ambitious, ridiculous campaign. Virgin Books have recently published a well-received book based on the show to coincide with the tour.
Tickets are priced 6 in advance or 8 on the door. Doors open at 7.30pm and the show starts at 8pm.
