Charlie left shaken after coach collision in village
POLICE, fire and ambulance were alerted to a coach collision in Goathland last Friday to find the only casualty was a small dog.
Yorkshire Ambulance Service say they received a 999 call shortly before midday to report the incident on Cow Wath Bank.
The Great North Air Ambulance was called as a precaution due to the location but could not get to the scene due to bad weather.
The double decker Yorkshire Coastliner and a single deck coach from the Harrogate area were each thought to have had approximately 50 passengers on board.
A fire brigade spokesman said the two coaches had been trying to get up the bank.
They said: “One of them had started trying to go up and the second one was waiting at the bottom when it rolled back down into it.
“No-one was hurt. It could have been a lot worse, especially for the driver of the second coach when the first coach rolled back onto his.
“We just stabilised the vehicle and made sure it was not going to roll back.”
Whitby Gazette photographer Ceri Oakes was at the scene and while there were no human casualties Charlie the Yorkshire Terrier was a little shaken.
He had recently had his summer hair cut and was shivering so his owners wrapped him in a thermal blanket.
