A chainsaw was stolen from the Mulgrave Estate last week.

Thieves stole an orange and white Stihl chainsaw valued at £600 between 5pm last Monday and 7am the following day.

The chainsaw was taken from a shed on the Lythe estate and Whitby police’s Tracy Rogers said she is keen to speak to anyone who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously in the area.

PC Rogers, of Whitby Safer Neighbourhood Team, added: “If you saw unusual vehicles or anyone acting suspiciously in the Lythe area around the time of the burglary, I urge you to contact the police straight away.

“I am also keen to speak to people who may have been offered the stolen chainsaw and ask them to get in touch.”

Anyone who can assist with this investigation should contact Whitby police on 101, select option 2 and ask for Tracy Rogers. Alternatively, information can be emailed to tracy.rogers@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk.

Or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 5551111, quoting reference number 12140031523.
