Cellists' musical walk to Robin Hood's Bay
A TRIO of cellists brought a musical theme to Robin Hood's Bay after a coast-to-coast walk with a difference.
Jeremy Dawson (34) and Clare Wallace, (50), both from Sheffield, along with 30-year-old James Rees from Ely, Cambs, gave three cello performances – at the beginning and end of each stage, as well as at least one along the way.
This culminated in a 45-minute finale at the seaside village, seven miles south of Whitby.
This is not the first time the Extreme Cellists have performed in extreme places. They have played on cathedral rooftops and mountain summits, all for fantastic causes.
The cellists even received a donation and support from the legendary Stephen Fry, who tweeted: "Do sponsor the Baching mad Extreme Cellists as they carry their cellos 192 miles from Coast2Coast for charity."
The talented trio took on the challenge on 26 July, to raise money for spinal injury charity, Aspire2 and the children's cancer charity, PACT.
"I'd like to say a massive thank you to everyone for their incredible support, said Jeremy.
"We have been overwhelmed by the response we've received and have raised over 4,500 so far for charity, which is fantastic."
Andrew Ogierman, community fundraiser at Aspire, added: "The Extreme Cellists have once again exceeded expectations.
"We are so impressed that, each year, they come up with even more wacky and wonderful challenges and feel very honoured they chose to support Aspire once again."
