Cash grant joy for two 'Bay groups

TWO Robin Hood's Bay organisations have received cash boosts to help them to continue to thrive.

The newly reformed 1st Robin Hood's Bay Scout pack has been awarded 200 to buy essential camping equipment for a two-day trip this summer and Fylingdales Pre School was awarded 200 for an all-weather awning for its garden area.

The money has come from Scarborough Borough Council's Mayoress Community Fund which was set up in the 1970s to benefit local charities and organisations within the borough.

More than 30 local groups and charities benefited from the fund at a presentation in the town hall by Scarborough Mayor Eileen Vickers.

Both grants were presented to Sam Glaysher who is a scout leader at 1st Robin Hood's Bay Scout Pack and who is also chairman of Fylingdales Pre School.

She said: "This is a greatly appreciated and a much-needed boost for both groups in the village and will go a long way to ensuring their continued success."

Fylingdales Pre School has also been successful in its application to the Northern Area Committee Fund for 900 of funds to pay for the installation of gas central heating to the nursery premises at St Stephen's Church rooms in Robin Hood's Bay.
