Opportunist thieves targeted a house in Ruswarp where they also stole the home-owner’s car.

Police are now appealing for witnesses following the two-in-one burglary which is thought to have taken place sometime between 4pm and 8pm on Saturday March 1.

The thieves broke into a property on The Avenue and took jewellery, perfume and the keys to a red Citroen C3 and then made off in the Citroen.

Whitby police are appealing to anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area around the time of the incident to get in touch with information.

Officers are also urging residents to be vigilant and ensure they have the necessary security measures in place to protect their property from thieves.
