Can you help Hannah hit the heights?
A TALENTED dancer and actress from Hinderwell is in need of sponsorship to allow her to attend a prestigious college to further her career.
Teenager Hannah Barnett-Savage has been accepted to study at the Cambridge Performing Arts school after auditioning against hundreds of others.
She has now had the chance to follow her dream thrown into doubt after a blow over funding.
Hannah (18), who has been dancing since the age of two, told the Whitby Gazette: “I was awarded the place after a full days auditioning ballet, jazz, singing and acting which was then followed by a physio assessment and a formal interview with the college principal.
“As the competition is so high for a place I was thrilled to be offered this opportunity to help me get closer to achieving my dream of becoming a professional actress.
“However, I was then told there is no government funding available for a foundation course and the only way I can take up my place is if I can raise the fees myself.”
She is set to inherit 4,000 when she turns 19 in August but needs to find the rest of the money to pay the cost of the year’s fees which stands at 7,875.
Already the community in Hinderwell is organising fund raisers for Hannah, who has an impressive background.
She has been doing ballet since the age of two and after attending Whitby Community College is now studying at Prior Pursglove College in Guisborough.
Hannah’s expertise landed her a full scholarship at the West End Stage summer school in London which culminated in her performing at Her Majesty’s theatre, Hay Market.
“This experience on a West End stage was the point which made me realise, although it takes such hard work and dedication to succeed in this profession, I want to do this so badly. It’s in my blood.”
