Argy bhaji in town centre
A MEMBER of staff and a customer were assaulted during a violent altercation at a Whitby Town Centre restaurant.
Police were called to the Passage to India in Windsor Terrace at around 10.40pm on Thursday evening.
Two local men – aged 18 and 17 – are alleged to have entered the restaurant and assaulted a 28-year-old customer by throwing a traffic cone at him.
Staff members intervened in the altercation and attempted to eject the men from the premises.
The men are then believed to have pushed a bicycle into the restaurant window before punching a 33-year-old male member of staff in the face.
An ambulance was called and he received treatment to a facial injury.
One of the offenders was detained by staff members until the police arrived. The other attempted to run from the scene but was arrested soon after.
