Alfredo George Merigo, of Grimsby, remanded in custody after appearing in Beverley magistrates court accused of murdering Driffield, East Yorkshire, woman

A MAN has appeared in court this morning accused of murdering a Driffield woman.

Wearing a dark Tee shirt and trousers and flanked by two security officers throughout the hearing, Alfredo George Merigo, 43, of Weelsby Street, Grimsby, appeared before magistrates sitting in Beverley.

Mr Merigo is charged with with the murder of Linda Merigo in Driffield on Wednesday September 1.

He spoke only to confirm his personal details during the hearing, which lasted less than two minutes.

Magistrates remanded Mr Merigo in custody to appear before Hull Crown Court on Monday.

Mr Merigo's solicitor Mr Richard Fowler made no application for bail.
