A scenic walk along Whitby’s clifftops is taking place on Sunday in memory of a young woman who passed away after suffering from Cystic Fybrosis all her life.
Zoe Phillips died in January last year, aged just 23, and and her sister Gemma has organised a 10 mile walk which leaves Whitby Abbey car park at 10am and will help raise funds for the Cystic Fybrosis Trust.
Regional fund-raising manager Pat Kilpatrick called for people to come along and join the walk. She said: “Please support those with cystic fibrosis and join our sponsored circular Whitby Abbey Coast Walk.
“Without these supporters, and other people who fundraise for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust we would be unable to invest in cutting-edge research to develop better treatments and, ultimately find a cure for this life-shortening disease.”
An event organised by Gemma at the Ship Inn on May 17 raised over £3,000 for the trust, which is this year celebrating its 50th anniversary.
