We all deserve a home of our own
In reply to the story, Whitby housing for Whitby-ites - yes I firmly believe that people of Whitby should be given priority to affordable homes for rent.
I appreciate that sometimes for many different reasons people from different areas are given priority.
We have in the Whitby area many folk living in old flats three an four storey high.
No means for drying washing, no outdoor space and very high rents.
Some folk have been waiting years for a home of their own.
I know from personal experience, like many other folk, how hard it is especially in flats where you have prams and small children to drag up and down stairs.
Of course we are the lucky ones and have homes of our own allocated when times were easier.
Give our locals priority please; don’t penalise the ones who have got off their backsides and tried to ease the system, by renting private, we all deserve a home of our own.
