Former headmaster’s goodbye
When I arrived in Robin Hood’s Bay in 2008 I was, rather ominously, warned that it takes at least 20 years for the good folk of Whitby to accept a ‘stranger’.
However, during my time in the area, nothing could have been further from the truth.
I would like to thank the pupils, staff, parents and wider community associated with Fyling Hall School for their unflinching support during my time at the helm.
It’s a very special school and I will forever value the time I spent there and the friendships I made.
I would also like to thank the members of WAMTC, WADS and the Apollo Players for ensuring the magic of theatre lives on in Whitby and for encouraging me to return to the stage after an absence of 20 years.
I already miss much about the area (the Aussies really cannot cook fish and chips) and no doubt I will be back to visit. However, rather than feeling like a stranger, I rather feel like one of your own!
