THE PUBLIC toilets on the Khyber Pass have now re-opened after freezing up during the bad weather before Christmas.
The pipes split and water got into the electrics blowing the fittings.
Most of the materials needed to repair the damage to the pipes and fittings had to be specially ordered and were only delivered to the council last Tuesday.
The toilets were then repaired before the three large tanks that feed the system were refilled. It takes around 24 hours for the system to be available to use again and the toilets were reopened to the public on Wednesday afternoon.
Scarborough Council is still waiting for parts for the disabled toilet which are due to be delivered early next week.
A council spokesperson said: “Scarborough Borough Council would like to apologise for any inconvenience the closure of the toilets may have caused.”
