Joanne Froggatt in A Street Cat Named Bob

Former Littlebeck resident and multi-award winning actress Joanne Froggatt stars in the soon to be released film A Street Cat Named Bob, which will be screened at Whitby Pavilion from December 11 to 14.

Joanne, a former pupil of Eskdale School in Whitby, plays the part of Val, a support worker to James (Luke Treadway). Homeless and struggling with drug addiction, James uses busking to get by in the bustling city of London. Val helps him get back on his feet before his life takes an unexpected twist.

James comes across an injured stray cat he nurses him back to health and names him Bob. The pair soon become inseparable and make for an unusual street music act. Bob’s companionship inspires James to overcome his drug addiction and share his story.

Roger Spottiswoode directs this feature film based on a true story and international bestselling autobiographical novel by James Bowen.

Tickets for A Street Cat Named Bob are now on sale. Tickets from the Pavilion’s box office: (01947) 458899.
