Afternoon tea at a Whitby care home helped raised over £1600 for a hospice which cares for local patients.

Throughout the year staff and residents at Peregrine House on Upgang Lane have held various fundraising events with cakes and crafts.

The culmination was the ever popular tea@3 which raised £1618.21.

On Wednesday the money was handed over to Penny Campbell as part of the Sunflower Appeal for Saint Catherine’s Hospice.

Residents told her it was their way of helping to make a difference to both patients and their families allowing them a much needed break from caring.
