CONSTRUCTION has started to improve the facilities at Scarborough Hospital’s radiography department.
Workmen have been on site and the project will feature a state-of-the-art mammography and ultrasound facility and there will also be a new reception and patient waiting area to further improve the patient experience.
Dr Ian Renwick, consultant radiologist at Scarborough Hospital, said: “The clinical team are delighted that this important project is progressing.
“This new equipment will allow us to have access to state of the art image quality which will greatly improve privacy for our breast imaging patients as well as providing much-needed expansion of other patient areas in the department.”
The project has been designed by Harrogate-based GSS Architecture and construction works are due to be completed in November 2011.
“Enhancing patient privacy and dignity and improving the patient and clinical flow have been key factors behind the design of this project,” explained trust director of facilities James Hayward.
“We have been working on this project for over a year and we are delighted that work was due to commence yesterday.”
