Changes planned for vascular treatment

PLANS for the re-organisation of vascular service in hospitals in the Yorkshire and Humber region are being discussed at a public meeting on Wednesday.

It has been proposed by the region’s Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) that patients with vascular conditions requiring complex and emergency care be treated at one of seven dedicated hospitals and that hospital-based specialist vascular teams would work from sub-regional services which for Whitby patients would be East Riding, Hull, North East Lincolnshire, North Lincolnshire and North Yorkshire and York Vascular Service

NHS North Yorkshire and York’s Locality Director for Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale, Simon Cox said: “The proposals being discussed would see a change in the way some people in North Yorkshire access services and as such it is vital that we get the views of local people and allow them to discuss any concerns they may have.” The meeting is in the sports hall in the Falsgrave Community Resource Centre in Scarborough on Wednesday, 11am.
