WHITBY residents are being invited to a fund-raising “antiques roadshow” to raise money for a cancer support charity.
The Jet Set fund-raising committee for Macmillan Cancer Support is holding an antiques valuation at Bede Hall at Sneaton Castle tomorrow between 10am- noon.
Sally Millington, fund-raising manager for Macmillan, said: “Many of us have something in the home that may have been passed down to us or given as a gift and we’re not sure of its origins or value.
“This is a great chance for people to bring along their own items and find out more about them.
“It’s a bit like Antiques Roadshow but without the film crew.”
Expert Robert Smith is donating his time to the fund-raiser and will value a maximum of three items per person.
For each item there is a minimum donation of £3.
There will be refreshments, a tombola and a Macmillan stall, plus a chance to meet the Jet Set and find out how you can get involved and help raise money for the charity.
Sally added: “This is a great event and we just really hope that people will come along and help us to raise money for people affected by cancer.”
