Get your gladrags ready – one of the glitziest and most eagerly anticipated fundraising events in Whitby’s social calendar is now just a week away.
The White Lily Ball, which raises money for three local hospices, is on next Friday (June 2) when 300 guests will enjoy a night of revelry at the new venue of Whitby Pavilion.
And you could meet Canadian rock legend Bryan Adams in one of the auction’s star prizes.
As well as the chance to see the Everything I Do, I Do It For You chart-topper backstage at one of his gigs, you can also bid for a signed Middlesbrough football, family tickets to The Deep and a £60 Go Ape voucher.
Something a bit different going under the hammer is stained glass workshop with artist Janet Fraser.
Lucy Bowes, who started White Lily in memory of her late parents, said this year’s money-spinner – the sixth – promises to be another great night.
There is already £1,700 in the coffers from a Prohibition Ball night last autumn, and all proceeds in total will be split between St Catherine’s Hospice, Butterwick Hospice and Zoe’s Place.
Guests will be treated to a three-course meal as well as music from Manhattan Jazz and Audio Tracer. A candy cart will be there too in case your energy levels need topping up. Any local businesses wishing to donate any prizes for the raffle can contact Lucy on 07795 562171.
