Fyling Hall is a multi-cultural school and I find it appropriate at this moment in time to talk about the many advantages that we have gained from attending a diverse and multi-cultural school.
Here at Fyling Hall School we are lucky enough to have a wide range of cultures represented in both the staff and in particular the students: including Germany, Switzerland, Poland, Spain, Egypt and right across the globe to Hong Kong and South Korea.
Our eyes are opened up to new perspectives and traditions, and our minds are broadened to understand the world in a more informed manner.
At school, the international students regularly share their cultural traditions, such as Chinese New Year, with fellow pupils joining in. But even if these organised activities did not take place, we learn from each another – just by being together and becoming friends.
Fyling Hall promotes tolerance in its ethos, but really, this happens quite naturally just because of our social circles.
In a world that seems to be, at present, promoting division: I am proud to be in a school that is diverse, tolerant and multi-cultured.
