A CHARITY struggling to feed animals due to the bad weather has been helped out with a £340 donation.

Julee Byrnes, an administrator for Cooperative Funeralcare in Loftus, and her friend Katy Tyler who volunteers at Hope Animal shelter in Loftus were struck by the plight of the animals who live outside.

The funeral director donated two £25 vouchers for Argos as raffle prizes and other local businesses donated prizes.

Julee and Katy sold raffle tickets for £1 per strip and managed to raise £340.

She said: “The weather made it very difficult for the outside animals to reach any natural sources of food ie; grass, so therefore were in need of more food than usual.

“We approached local businesses and asked them if they would be interested in donating a prize, most were more than happy to help.
