A FUND has been set up by a shopkeeper to help the victim of the Whitby landslide.

Trudie Ward, of Dotty About Vintage on Church Street, is collecting money for Jude Knight, the only permanent resident of Aelfleda Terrace and whose home is set to be demolished over the weekend.

In the build up to Christmas, Ms Knight must come to terms with her home of 26 years being destroyed, after independent engineers condemned five of the 140-year-old terraced former jetworkers cottages.

Additionally, the buildings have been declared so dangerous that Ms Knight was only allowed back into her home for half an hour this week to gather any irreplaceable items.

They rest of her possessions are set to be destroyed in the demolition, although there is a hope that some items may be saved while is slowly torn down around them.

A special charity bank account has been established, which will become available in the next couple of days. Until then anyone wanting to donate can visit Dotty About Vintage.
