A LOCAL dinner lady and the youngest addition to the village opened the new play park at Fylingthorpe.

Gladys Holmes, who worked at Fylingdales School for many years and Sienna Hinchliffe did the honours while local children tried out the new facilities.

They have been provided by Lottery funding to the tune of £43,500 and another £3500 has been granted for fun days throughout the summer.

At the official opening there was a mini Easter egg hunt, silly songs to the sound of a banjo, a barbeque that had a queue all afternoon long, arts and crafts, a pet lamb and animated storytelling as well as face painting and willow weaving.
