A MYSTERIOUS but friendly bird has returned to the skies after living happily in a pensioner’s conservatory in Fylingthorpe for a week where he has been tucking into bird seed, suet and cake.

The bird, thought to be from the jackdaw family, landed on Freda Hodgson’s shoulder when she was at Raw Animal rescue last Friday and refused to fly off.

Bad weather was setting in so she took it home and assumed it was a pet as it was so friendly and happy to be handled.

She has tried to locate an owner but the brazen bird flew off on Thursday morning after spotting a fellow jackdaw in an apple tree.

Freda told the Gazette: “I thought after a day or two he would fly off but he didn’t.

“He must have been a pet or handled for certain, he took things out of the palm of my hand.

“I have enjoyed having him around and will miss him.

“I hope he is alright but I think he was getting bored – he was digging in the conservatory.”
