Whitby’s fire crew answered their second call in as many days in the harbour after a freak accident left two fishermen with broken legs.
A dinghy was heading out of the harbour for a Dutch fishing vessel out at sea to swap crews earlier this afternoon (Friday) when it hit rough seas and flipped up.
Two of the passengers, a Dutch man aged 57 and a 33 year-old Irish man landed badly, both breaking their legs.
The boat returned to Whitby harbour and the fire crew were asked to help get the men off the boat using stretchers.
They were both taken by waiting ambulances to Scarborough Hospital.
Yesterday the fire brigade were asked to help a yachter who fell ill on his boat whole carrying out repairs while it was docked at Coates Marine.
