FIRE FIGHTERS from North Yorkshire are headed for New Zealand to show off their skills on the world stage.
They recently won the UK Rescue Organisation Vehicle Extrication Challenge in Hampshire and are now going on to represent the United Kingdom at the worldwide event to be held in New Zealand this July.
The team is made up of serving firefighters skilled in freeing victims of road accidents from vehicles.
Road Rescue Team Manager, Andy Young, said: “Since being formed the extrication team has achieved considerable success in not only raising awareness of road safety issues in North Yorkshire, but also increasing the skills and expertise of all our firefighters in dealing with difficult extrication scenarios.”
It is hoped companies can back their trip by offering sponsorship in return for their logo being displayed on fire vehicles.
