WHITBY fire crew’s special water rescue team was called to an incident on Thursday (13 December) after a woman became trapped in her vehicle due to ice.
At around 6.20pm at Great Broughton near Stokesley a Citroen Nemo van had been driven into a ford that crossed Holme Beck. However, when the female driver attempted to drive out the other side, ice prevented her from escaping and she became trapped.
Stokesley appliance requested the assistance of Whitby’s swift water rescue appliance, along with another team from Richmond.
The crew from Stokesley were able to retrieve the casualty from the van and kept her warm until an ambulance arrived. She was uninjured and required no further medical treatment.
