RUSWARP Primary School pupils crunched their lunches as part of a project to reduce waste across the county.

It was the first national Waste Week for Schools which saw a wide range of activities to cut food waste and packaging.

They learnt about how to reduce waste and to recycle more so that less and less material goes to landfill each year.

Over 55 schools across North Yorkshire participated in the project which was part of EDF’s energy programme for greener schools.
