WITH SPRING on its way the Gateway group are asking for help to restore the bank area to the side of Beevers in Stakesby Vale.
At the first of a series of volunteer days, ground clearance and preparation of the area for springtime planting and sewing will take place next Thursday (17 February) between 10am and 12noon.
Geoff Wilson, chair of Gateway, said: “We would like as many young people as possible to be involved in the event, particularly young people who go to the Community College as many of them pass this patch of land every day on their way to and from college.”
Susan Davies, Chair of Whitby in Bloom, said: “Whitby in Bloom is entering the national Britain in Bloom competition this year and we have great hopes of doing very well.”
Other events will take place every Thursday from 17 February until July offering volunteers the opportunity to work with Groundwork North Yorkshire to help improve the Cinder Track.
On 17 March between 10am-3pm a volunteer day will see signage placed at the Beevers end of the Cinder Track.
Mrs Davies said: “I hope that we will see many volunteers on Thursday helping to improve the look of our wonderful town to impress the judges when they visit.”
