No action will be taken against the owners of a property in Whitby where asbestos has been placed near a school.
Concerns had been raised about the material at the back of a Laburnum Grove property, near Stakesby School.
It is low grade asbestos but because it is in open space where dust can’t accumulate no enforcement action will be taken.
A council spokesperson said: “While we understand people may have concerns, we would like to stress this form of asbestos panelling is very low risk to passers-by and would not warrant us taking action. We would advise anyone looking at ways of sealing up holes in fences or other fixture to use an alternative material. We would act on complaints by approaching landowners and advising them to change the material used.”
