REGULAR visitors to the area are organising a beach clean up at Sandsend.
Marine conservation enthusiasts Helen Webb and Rachel Lopata will come up from Leicester where they live to carry out the clean up on Saturday 19 March.
Their concerns over litter on the beach led them to get involved with the Marine Conservations Society‘s(MCS) Beach Clean-up campaign last year and have since founded a charitable trust called Sea-Changers raising funds for marine conservation projects.
Rachel said: “As a new charity we need some start up funds so we wanted to organise a sponsored event. A sponsored beach clean at Sandsend, a beach we love, seemed a great idea. We will be cleaning the beach throughout the day – tides permitting. It would be great if some local people could come along too and support us.“
