New league tables have revealed how Whitby and district’s two secondary schools are performing.

The latest figures rank schools on success in their GCSE’s, English Baccalaureate and A Levels.

Whitby Community College scored 44th in North Yorkshire out of a total of 57 schools for the proportion of its pupils getting five Cs at GCSE or equivalent while Fyling Hall School in Robin Hood’s Bay was ranked 52nd.

Fifty five percent of students at the college achieved five A* to C grades at GCSE or equivalent including English and maths while at Fyling Hall the figure was 43%, three per cent above the national average of 40%.
