A number of schools in the Whitby area are set to close on Wednesday as a result of a teachers’ strike.
North Yorkshire County Council has confirmed that Airy Hill, Fylingdales, Lythe and Glaisdale schools will all be fully closed.
Castleton School and St Hedda’s School will be partially open, while it is business as usual at Caedmon, Eskdale, Goathland, Sleights, St Hilda’s and East Whitby schools who will all remain open.
The enforced closures have been brought about by teachers in the NUT union who will be joining a national strike over a range of issues including pay, pensions, conditions and funding.
