PUPILS at Fylingdales School were amazed when they received a reply from Buckingham Palace after writing to the Queen.
Class 3’s 14 children, who are aged four and five, were inspired to write to Her Majesty after teaching assistant Elaine Godbold had visited the capital and brought back a book about the Queen.
When the youngsters starting asking about her and London and the Royal family, the class teacher Lisa Clarkson decided to put their questions to the lady herself.
The reception class wrote a letter together while year 1 children wrote their own.
They were all posted off at the end of October and the royal fans were amazed when they got a reply just over a week later.
Miss Clarkson said: “We were hoping for a reply but she gets hundreds of letters so we weren’t sure we would get one at all.
“They were over the moon and I photocopied it so they had one to go home to their mums and dads.
“We weren’t doing a topic, it was just because Mrs Godbold brought this book back and they started talking about the wedding.
“They ended up finding out quite a lot about the Royal family and now we have got a reply it would be nice to do some more.”
