DINOSAURS and varieties of stone featured in lessons at Lealholm Church of England primary school when the children studied a project called Under Our Feet.
The twenty-eight youngsters aged between seven and eleven were helped with their project by Mike Windle of the North East Yorkshire Geology Trust based in Robin Hood’s Bay.
Headteacher Marian Matthews said: “The project gave the children a good range of experiences starting with a visit to Skinningrove Mining Museum and then a walk with the Geology Trust along Clitherbeck.
“They also considered ironstone mining, the Chilean mining disaster and Boulby potash mine.”
The project included an investigation by the children of a crime scene featuring a model of a half-eaten dinosaur that had been killed by a group of small dinosaurs.
In the evening the children’s parents and grandparents enjoyed a talk by Mr Windle followed by refreshments.
