A TALENTED student is following in the footsteps of the stars after winning a place at a top stage school.

Fyling Hall student Christina Clemitshaw (13) will be heading to Tring Park School for the Performing Arts after a successful audition.

Past pupils of the Hertfordshire School include Julie Andrews, Jane Seymour and Sarah Brightman and more recently X Factor star Ella Henderson.

The youngster from Whitby’s Upgang Lane is a keen dancer, actor and musician and has attended Whitby’s Benson Stage Academy since the age of four.

She also attends Stagecoach in Scarborough, has singing lessons from Sandra Stewart as well as regular piano tuition.

At her audition she had to perform a drama recital, a comic piece, sung Over the Rainbow and took part in a ballet class with other young hopefuls.

Her mum Jill said she would like to thank all those who have helped Christina over the years with her performing.

She added: “I’m ecstatic she’s been accepted and I’m very proud. She has been wanting this for a while and she kept asking to go.

“When she applied we wanted her to understand how hard it is to get in and that it might put her off but she got in on the first application she made.”

Christina will head off to the boarding school in September.
