GRUFFALOS, tigers, red riding hood, Ben 10s and a Peppa Pig were just some of the colourful characters at a Whitby nursery.

Tots at Coliseum Kids dressed as their story book heroes to celebrate World Book Day and took along their favourite book to read and share with their friends on the day.

Manager Emma Wilson the day had been a huge success with some wonderful costumes.

“Reading books is really important for their communication and books can even be shared with tiny babies,” she said.

“The children love books and as part of their work for this half term right up until Easter they have been learning about traditional story book characters . This week it’s been Little Red Riding Hood and next week it’s Goldilocks and the Three Bears.”
